KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 — Marvel fans were buzzing with excitement when exclusive first-look images from Deadpool 3 unveiled Hugh Jackman in Wolverine’s iconic yellow-blue costume.
In an Instagram post shared yesterday, a sneak peek on-set photo showcased Ryan Reynolds and Jackman in full costume as Deadpool and Wolverine for the highly anticipated sequel film.
Initially believed to be leaked low-resolution set photos, the first pictures released had die-hard fans speculating. The post’s caption cheekily referenced the quality of the images, stating, “Now in Hugh Res”.
Reynolds and Jackman certainly didn’t miss the opportunity to join in on the fun. They both shared the picture on their Instagram stories with the caption, “Don’t blink”.
Contrary to expectations, the Wolverine featured in Deadpool 3 is not the same version of the character from Logan or the previous X-Men films, as promised in an announcement video last year. Instead, Jackman portrays a new iteration of the character, donning a vibrant yellow and dark blue suit, paying homage to the superhero’s original outfit from the classic Marvel comics.
Additional set photos captured what appeared to be Deadpool and Wolverine engaged in a thrilling fight scene, depicting the love-hate relationship between the two characters as portrayed in the comics.
Fans of the beloved superhero were ecstatic to finally witness a comic-accurate costume that Jackman had never worn in any previous on-screen appearances as Wolverine.
Moreover, viewers eagerly anticipated the onscreen and offscreen banter between Jackman and Reynolds, known for their infamous social media rivalry.
Having made his debut as the mutant hero in 2000’s X-Men, Jackman had intended to retire the character after Wolverine’s “death” in 2017’s Logan.
The highly anticipated Deadpool 3 is scheduled for release in May 2024.
