If you’ve never taken the statement, “When you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready,” seriously, Sha’Carri Richardson‘s most recent double hairstyle display will make you a believer.
Before the start of the 100m race at the U.S. Track and Field Championships, Richardson had a sudden change of heart about her look and decided to switch things up. Instead of her usual orange install, she opted for scalp feed-in braids underneath a wig. In a video posted on Twitter, Richardson can be seen getting ready for the race with a determined expression on her face. Suddenly, she made a bold move and removed the wig, revealing straight-backs with intricate designs and colorful tendrils. Her braids were black at the scalp and gradually faded into a beautiful platinum ombre. One side of her head featured braids styled in a heart shape, while the other was adorned with a star.
In all this glory, the athlete quickly sprinted into first place during the 100m race. With lightning-fast speed, she crossed the finish line in just 10.82 seconds, securing a national title and earning her spot in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Will she snatch wigs (literally) in Paris next year? Time will only tell.
