Tesla Inc’s decision to open an office in Selangor is expected to bring more high-paying jobs and better income-generating opportunities for youth, according to Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
The move is also likely to encourage more international companies involved in battery technology to invest in the state, which will be crucial for the automobile industry and the adoption of clean energy batteries in public transportation.
Amirudin emphasized that the state government is keen on attracting local and foreign investors who can offer high-paying jobs to Selangor residents and generate interest among the younger generation in pursuing careers in the clean energy industry.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s virtual meeting with Tesla CEO Elon Musk led to the announcement that the EV company would establish operations in Selangor this year, reflecting investor confidence in the current state administration.
Tesla is expected to set up a head office, service center, and experience center in Sepang and Petaling districts, with both local authorities ready to facilitate the firm’s entry.
