Lana Del Rey has been spotted in Alabama recently, as fans have seen her at various locations such as Starbucks, a nail salon, and a pizza place. However, the most peculiar sighting was when the “Summertime Sadness” singer was seen serving customers at Waffle House while wearing a sky-blue uniform. Her name, “Lana,” was even displayed on her name tag.

Fans took photos with Del Rey at the Florence location of the chain and someone captured a video of her possibly saying to another worker, “Oh, look at this guy. Oh God, Charlie, don’t film him without his permission.”

Earlier in the week, Del Rey was seen signing a fan’s arm with a permanent marker and warned the fan, “Don’t ever do that,” in reference to people getting tattoos of her name, according to video and photo evidence of the brief encounter.

Del Rey was also seen enjoying a meal at a pizza restaurant in Florence and was staying at a local Marriott. Additionally, she was spotted in Birmingham, Alabama, which is about a two-hour drive south.

The reason for her time in Alabama and why she worked at a Waffle House remain unclear. Del Rey’s representative did not respond to requests for comment from The Times.

AL.com reached out to recording studios in the area, including FAME Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound, to check if Del Rey had been recording there, but confirmed that she had not. Her latest album, “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” was released in March. She has scheduled performances at Lollapalooza in Chicago and Outside Lands in San Francisco in August, but no shows are currently planned in the South or surrounding areas.

However, the news site also pointed out that in the second verse of her song “Paris, Texas” from her new album, Del Rey may have left a clue: “I took a train to Spain, just a notebook in my hand / Then I went to see some friends of mine, down in Florence, Alabama.”

Could this be a hint at a new music video? Perhaps those friends can be found at the Waffle House.
