Putri Ariani, a blind singer/songwriter from Indonesia, has become one of the most talked-about acts from this year’s “America’s Got Talent” auditions. She received Simon Cowell’s Season 18 Golden Buzzer, and Simon himself is expecting big things for her in the competition. In an NBC video, Simon reveals, “I would be amazed if she’s not either the winner or the runner-up. I mean, that’s who I put my money on.”
Simon recalls that Putri was initially very nervous, but as soon as she started singing, he knew she was special. He says, “Within about seven seconds, I’m thinking, one of us is gonna push a Golden Buzzer for that. I think if it wasn’t me, someone else would have pushed it.” Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Terry Crews also have the option of using their Golden Buzzer.
Putri will next be seen on the “AGT” live shows, which begin on Tuesday, August 22 on NBC. Simon believes this is just the start of great things for her, calling her an amazing person and artist.
The winner of “America’s Got Talent” Season 18 will join the iconic list of past winners, including singers like Bianca Ryan, Neal E. Boyd, and Grace VanderWaal, ventriloquists like Terry Fator and Darci Lynne Farmer, variety acts like Olate Dogs and Kenichi Ebina, and magicians like Mat Franco and Shin Lim.
