Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid recently took to Instagram to share an interesting conversation she had with former senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi. According to Nurulhidayah, Ras Adiba had asked for her assistance in extending her contract as a Senator and as the Chairman of Malaysia’s National News Agency, Bernama. Nurulhidayah expressed her hope that Ras Adiba’s decision to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) was not influenced by the government’s failure to extend her terms in these positions. She also emphasized the need for respect and non-interference in administrative matters.
Responding to Nurulhidayah’s post, Ras Adiba confirmed that she did discuss her desire to continue serving and working for the community with Nurulhidayah. However, she clarified that it was a conversation between “an elder sister and a younger sister” and that she was simply expressing her wishes without asking for anything. Ras Adiba expressed gratitude towards Nurulhidayah for disclosing the conversation, as it allowed more people to learn about her involvement with Bersatu.
On July 10, Ras Adiba announced her decision to join Bersatu in order to support the opposition coalition, Perikatan Nasional, and their fight for the people’s welfare, including the OKU community. She stated that after considering the political dynamics in the country, she decided to give her absolute support to Bersatu and their leadership under Tan Sri Muhyiddin.
Despite some dissenting voices, Nurulhidayah had recommended Ras Adiba as an icon at the Wanita Umno Skuad Sayang Awards Hi-Tea Reception during the 2023 Umno General Assembly. She defended her decision, citing Ras Adiba’s involvement in an NGO for the disabled (OKU) and her potential to assist the Wanita Umno NGO in providing support to people with disabilities.
