In Stockton-on-Tees, north east England, the new fulfilment centre by Amazon is set to open in October. To staff this facility, Amazon plans to hire up to 2,000 employees. Initially, 1,000 staff members will be recruited and more will be added as operations escalate. In January, the company announced the closure of three older warehouses in the UK, affecting 1,200 jobs, while providing opportunities for workers to transfer.
