SAN FRANCISCO – Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced new goals for AI products, such as self-driving software and humanoid robots in factories. He admitted to past optimism and said Tesla is in talks with a major automaker to license its self-driving technology.
Tesla’s value would greatly increase once self-driving is approved, Musk said. He also mentioned the potential of Tesla robots on factory floors next year, although only about 10 have been built so far.
Rising interest rates and competition have led Tesla to lower vehicle prices, impacting profit margins. However, Musk is determined to expand sales volume even at the expense of margins, relying on the long-term value of FSD.
Tesla’s decision to license its technology follows years of failed promises by others to create self-driving software.
According to an earnings presentation, Tesla has completed over 300 million miles in the beta version of FSD. Despite his past optimism, Musk is now more cautious about achieving full self-driving, acknowledging potential mistakes.
