Google is set to launch its Google Play Pass subscription gaming service in Malaysia, providing Android users with access to a wide range of ad-free games and apps. The service is available for RM10.99 per month or RM99 per year, significantly cheaper than its US pricing of US$4.99 (approximately RM23) per month and US$29.99 (RM139) per year.
New users can enjoy a free first month subscription, during which they can access popular titles such as Final Fantasy VII, Stardew Valley, Dead Cells, Little Nightmares, and Limbo.
To activate the free trial, simply open the Google Play app on an Android device, tap on the profile picture icon at the top right corner, and select Play Pass. Users will then be guided through the necessary steps to subscribe without any charges. To avoid being billed for the following month, make sure to unsubscribe before the trial period ends.
Users also have the option to set up a family group and share the subscription with up to five members. To do this, open the Google Play store app, tap on the profile picture, go to settings, and select family. Follow the prompts to “sign up for family library.”
Although Malaysia is not currently listed as an officially supported country for the Play Pass, the availability of localised pricing suggests that an official rollout may be approaching. The Play Pass, which is similar to Apple Arcade and PC Game Pass, was first introduced in September 2019. It offers users unlimited access to a wide selection of games and software for a monthly fee.
