Google, owned by Alphabet, is reportedly considering offering its suite of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools to corporate Gmail accounts. This additional service, which would cost $30 per month per person, is expected to be announced by Google Cloud CEO, Thomas Kurian, at the company’s annual cloud conference in San Francisco. However, Alphabet has not yet responded to a request for comment from Reuters.

The decision to make AI-powered tools available to corporate Gmail accounts could provide significant benefits to businesses, enabling them to leverage advanced technology for improved productivity and efficiency. These tools could include features such as smart email categorization, predictive email responses, and advanced data analysis.

By integrating AI capabilities into Gmail, Google aims to enhance its position in the corporate email market. Currently, Microsoft’s Office 365 dominates this sector, and Google’s move could help it gain a competitive edge. The addition of AI-powered tools could appeal to businesses seeking to streamline their email communications and increase their overall operational effectiveness.

The potential offering of AI-powered tools is part of Google’s broader strategy to expand its cloud services and compete more effectively with other cloud giants, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. Over the past few years, Google has heavily invested in developing its cloud infrastructure and capabilities.

If Google decides to proceed with the introduction of AI-powered tools for corporate Gmail accounts, it would mark a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to bring AI technology to a wider audience. While AI has already made its way into consumer products like virtual assistants and smart devices, this move would demonstrate Google’s commitment to incorporating AI into enterprise solutions.

Furthermore, by charging a monthly fee for access to these AI-powered tools, Google would generate additional revenue and diversify its income streams. This aligns with Alphabet’s efforts to reduce its dependence on advertising revenue, which currently constitutes the majority of the company’s earnings.

In conclusion, Google’s reported plans to offer AI-powered tools to corporate Gmail accounts at an additional cost could have significant implications for businesses. The introduction of these advanced features could enhance productivity and efficiency in email communications, potentially enabling Google to better compete with Microsoft in the corporate email market. Furthermore, this move aligns with Google’s broader strategy of expanding its cloud offerings and generating additional revenue from non-advertising sources.
