BRUSSELS (Reuters) – EU antitrust regulators announced on Monday that they have cleared Hitachi’s 1.7-billion-euro ($1.80 billion) bid for Thales’ GTS railway signalling business. However, this clearance is subject to the condition that Hitachi sells assets in France and Germany, which the company has agreed to do.
Two weeks ago, Reuters had reported that the European Commission was likely to approve this deal.
