SHANGHAI (Reuters) – New Alibaba Group CEO Eddie Wu has informed staff that the company’s key strategic focuses moving forward will be “user first” and “AI-driven”, as stated in an internal letter reviewed by Reuters.

On only his third day in the top position, Wu emphasized that Alibaba will prioritize catering to the needs and preferences of its users. This customer-centric approach is expected to drive the company’s decision-making and overall strategy.

Additionally, Wu stated that Alibaba aims to prioritize and empower younger generations within its business management teams. Specifically, individuals born after 1985 and after 1990 will be encouraged to take leadership positions within the company in the next four years.

The Group also intends to intensify its reorganization efforts in order to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. This move will allow Alibaba to adapt to rapidly evolving market dynamics and maintain its competitive edge.

Alibaba’s commitment to an “AI-driven” approach reflects its recognition of the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the tech industry. The company will actively leverage AI technologies to enhance its products and services, optimize operations, and deliver personalized user experiences.

The letter from Wu highlights his intention to foster independent decision-making within Alibaba. By empowering employees to make autonomous decisions, the company aspires to foster creativity, innovation, and greater agility in responding to market demands.

The announcement of these strategic priorities comes as Alibaba faces increasing competition in the e-commerce sector both domestically and globally. By focusing on user satisfaction and leveraging AI capabilities, the company aims to differentiate itself and maintain its position as a leader in the industry.
