Sony announcedd last week that it would be increasing the yearly subscription fee for the PlayStation Plus, with the revised pricing jumping by up to RM151 for Malaysian users from Sept 6.

The price hike will affect all three tiers of the service’s annual subscription, with each tier seeing an increase by almost 50% from the previous price tag:

    • PlayStation Plus Essential: RM235 (increasing from RM159)
    • PlayStation Plus Extra: RM400 (from RM269)
    • PlayStation Plus Deluxe: RM460 (from RM309)

Despite the increase, opting for the yearly subscription will still be cheaper than going for the monthly or three-month plans for users.

Current subscribers to the yearly plan will not be subject to the new pricing until their next renewal date or after Nov 6.

However, users should be aware that any changes made to their plan following Sept 6 will update it with the new fee.

For the unaware, PlayStation Plus is a subscription service that offers online multiplayer on PlayStation consoles, a rotation of free games for users to claim each month, cloud syncs for saved game data, and access to a catalogue of older titles, among other things.
