Half of the world’s population has already utilized generative artificial intelligence, as per a study conducted in the USA, the UK, Australia, and India. However, there exists a disparity in usage between Generation Z and Generation X. While the younger population has largely embraced this innovative technology, older generations remain skeptical.

It often takes some time for a new technology to become integrated into our daily routines. When it comes to generative artificial intelligence tools, Gen Z individuals are far more willing to incorporate them compared to older generations, including Gen X and Baby Boomers.

According to the “Generative AI Snapshot Research: The AI Divide” survey, which interviewed 4,000 individuals in the USA, UK, Australia, and India, 70% of Gen Z individuals reported using this technology. In contrast, among those who do not use it, 68% belong to Gen X or the Baby Boomer generation. Additionally, more than one-third of generative AI users employ the technology on a daily basis and plan to increase its usage in the future.

Of the generative AI users, 65% are Millennials or Gen Z. Moreover, 52% of Gen Z individuals express trust in AI’s ability to assist them in making decisions, while 75% anticipate utilizing AI in a professional context, particularly to automate work tasks. 38% use generative AI for leisure purposes, compared to 34% who employ it for educational purposes.

Among respondents who do not use generative AI (approximately half of those surveyed), 64% agree that they would use the technology more if it were more secure. Furthermore, 88% admit to having little knowledge of the potential impact of AI on their lives, and 32% consider AI to be irrelevant for their needs. Additionally, 70% of non-users express a desire to increase their usage if they had a better understanding of the technology.

“This data demonstrates the rapid adoption of generative AI in less than a year,” highlighted Clara Shih, CEO of Salesforce AI. “Throughout my career, I have never witnessed such quick adoption of a technology. For AI to truly revolutionize the way people live and work, organizations must develop AI that is reliable and accessible, enabling individuals to engage in more enjoyable and productive work,” she added. – AFP Relaxnews

*The survey was conducted among 4,041 individuals aged 18 and above in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and India from August 16 to 22, 2023.
