(Reuters) – Jack Sweeney, the creator of an account that tracks the real-time movements of Elon Musk’s private jet, has found a new home on Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter-rival Threads. This move comes after Sweeney’s suspension from Twitter last year.
Sweeney’s first post on Threads, with the account handle @elonmusksjet, exclaimed, “ElonJet has arrived to Threads!” This account had amassed over 21,000 followers as of Saturday morning.
The ElonJet account has been diligently tracking Musk’s private jet using data that is accessible to the public. This information allows followers to know the whereabouts of Musk’s jet in real time.
In December last year, Twitter Inc, which is owned by Musk, suspended the ElonJet account. The suspension came after Musk claimed that his son had been mistakenly followed by a “crazy stalker,” leading the billionaire to threaten legal action against the operator of the account.
Meta-owned Threads aims to directly challenge Twitter’s dominance in the social media space. It quickly gained millions of users, including notable figures like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, and Democratic U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Threads is capitalizing on Twitter’s state of disarray due to Musk’s chaotic decisions.
At the time of writing, there has been no response from Sweeney, Twitter, or Meta in regards to Reuters’ request for comments on the matter.
