PETALING JAYA: Allo Technology, a subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), launched a Rahmah Package Internet plan priced at RM69 a month with speeds up to 100Mbps (megabits per second) in Kedah, Perak, Pulau Pinang, Cyberjaya, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor.

The plan offers fixed broadband at a lower price to the B40 income group, persons with disabilities (PWD), senior citizens, as well as army and police veterans.

Subscriptions to the Rahmah Package will come without data limits and are subject to a 24-month contract. The plan is also not time-limited and will be offered in perpetuity.

This Rahmah Package plan costs RM30 less than Allo’s existing 100Mbps plan and is the lowest-priced 100Mbps fixed broadband plan in the country.

According to a media statement from the Communications and Digital Ministry, the package’s offerings are in line with the unity government’s goal of lowering the cost of living burden, as Allo has a focus on coverage in rural and peripheral areas.

Present at the launch was Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who said, “The Rahmah Package initiative is proof that the needs and welfare of the people to enjoy Internet services at a cheaper and more affordable price have been given serious attention by the unity government and service providers.

“This initiative is also in line with the government’s aspiration to reduce the cost of living. At the same time, ensuring comprehensive digital connectivity for all segments of society.”

The announcement comes alongside a rebranding from Unity Package to Rahmah Package.

Other Internet service providers launched plans under the Unity Package initiative aimed at the same target group in February, offering 30Mbps for RM69 a month.
