WhatsApp is beta testing a message pinning feature for its upcoming updates, per WABetaInfo.
According to the leaker site, this feature is already available to a limited group of users through the 2.23.6.17 version update of the Android app.
The new feature, simply labeled ‘Pin’, becomes visible when users long-press a text box and access the Settings menu (under the three-dot icon). It will then allow users to pin certain messages to the top of their chat conversations, making it easier for them to access important or frequently referenced messages.
“It’s worth noting that pinned messages are also available in individual conversations, making it easier to highlight specific content even within private chats,” the website added.
Users will then have the option to pin the message for 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days. Additionally, users retain the flexibility to remove the pinned messages before the chosen duration expires.
As of now, the message pinning feature is only available to a selected group of Android users via the Google Play Store. A broader rollout of the feature is expected in the upcoming weeks.
