WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that would enable users to create an alternate profile to be shown to specific contacts based on their privacy settings. Leaker site WABetaInfo shared a screenshot of the potential feature, which would work in conjunction with the profile photo visibility setting in the privacy menu. Currently, users can choose to hide their profile photo and name from non-contacts or specific contacts, displaying a default blank image instead. With this new feature, users would be able to create a separate profile with a different image and name, even for non-contacts with the privacy setting enabled.
This feature would be useful for users who want to have different profiles for different purposes, such as personal messages and work. They can set certain contacts to only see one profile or the other. However, no official announcement has been made regarding when this feature will be available in the WhatsApp messaging app.
Another feature that has already been introduced in the WhatsApp 2.23.24.6 beta version for Android is the ability to skip forward while watching videos shared via the app. Although the user interface for watching videos remains largely the same, there is now a 10-second reverse and skip button when a video is being played, similar to the double-tap feature on YouTube videos.
