WhatsApp is now rolling out a version of its messaging app for wearable devices worldwide. This comes after the announcement made during the Google I/O conference in May.
The new Wear OS version allows users to initiate new conversations, reply to messages, and even take calls without needing a smartphone.
Users can also respond using voice messages, emojis, and preset quick replies.
Prior to this standalone app, users could only view WhatsApp notifications on their Wear OS devices via Bluetooth sync. However, they were unable to respond using just their smartwatches.
For the messaging app to work, the smartwatches must be running on Wear OS 3 or a newer version.
As for Apple Watch users, there is currently no standalone version of WhatsApp available. They can only read and respond to messages through notifications.
During the Google I/O conference, it was also announced that new Spotify Tiles will be added to Wear OS in the near future.
