WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that allows users to create custom stickers using artificial intelligence (AI).
According to leaked information from WABetaInfo, this option is available for select users in the messaging app’s beta programme, specifically in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.17.14 update.
The option to create these stickers will be visible in the stickers section of chats, with a “create” button when the tab is opened.
Once the button is selected, users will be prompted to enter what they want the AI to generate, and they can then share it in the conversation.
Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, mentioned in a statement to Engadget that they may test AI-powered tools as they are being developed.
“Our generative AI-powered experiences are under development in varying phases, and we’re testing a range of them publicly in a limited capacity.
“We have nothing further to share at this time,” a Meta spokesperson said.
Similar AI-powered sticker tools are also reportedly being developed for other Meta social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.
