BERLIN: YouTube is set to release a range of AI-powered tools designed to simplify the process of video creation, as announced by the Google subsidiary during a livestream on Thursday.

Following in the footsteps of other tech companies integrating AI into their products, YouTube is introducing several new features to help users add text, backgrounds, music, and other elements to their videos with minimal effort.

One such tool, called Dream Screen, has been developed for YouTube Shorts, the platform’s TikTok competitor, allowing users to incorporate AI-generated video or image backgrounds into their vertical videos.

However, YouTube is also unveiling tools to assist in the creation of longer videos.

“We’re introducing a suite of products and features that will once again push the boundaries of creative expression,” said Toni Reid, YouTube’s Vice President of Emerging Experiences & Community Products.

Reid acknowledged the challenges of the video production process, stating, “We know that creating videos can be difficult and often prevents first-time creators from uploading their first video.”

To address this, YouTube is launching a free app called YouTube Create, allowing users to focus more on the creative aspects of content creation and video sharing. The app will be initially available for Android and will include video editing tools like precision editing, automatic captioning, voiceover capabilities, and access to a library of filters, effects, transitions, and royalty-free music, eliminating the need for complex editing software.

The new tools will first be rolled out to users in the United States before being made available in Europe by the end of the year. – dpa
